Pong (1972)

Created in 1972 by Allan Alcorn, Pong has grown a reputation for its simple design that gets the job done. Asteroids(1979)

Developed by Atari in 1979, Asteroids is a multidirectional shooter based in space. The games accurate demonstration of both inertia and momentum set it apart from other arcade games at the time. Donkey Kong (1981)

Developed by Nintendo in 1981, Donkey Kong marked the creator of Mario(originally called Jumpman) and the titular ape, Donkey Kong. Donkey Kong was created by Shigeru Miyamoto and challenged players to climb platforms and jump over obstacles to rescue a damsel in distress. The game was inspired by King Kong and after it's release it quickly skyrocketed into success.

Developed by Namco in 1981, Galaga is a fixed shooter game and a sequel to Galaxian(1979). Galaga built on it's predecessor and added power-ups, improved visuals, and more dynamic enemy movement.
